Our Infancy Our First Covenant

Headwaters of the River Jordon D V Grieve

In the beginning God provided mankind with food, shelter, love and protection, with only a few rules. (Look up Genesis 3:2-7 for a refresher on the tree of knowledge and the tree of immortality). God loved them as we love our infants. But Adam and Eve let their desire and want overtake need and truthfulness and they lost their innocence. This is a perfect description of all sin; where desire and uncontrolled self-will finds an excuse to break God’s rule. And they were punished. But look again, as a good father, he did not abandon them, he gave them clothes and instructions on how they must find their own food and live a harder life. He gave them our first covenant. Regardless if you take this story as symbolic or literal; the message is the same. We lost our innocence to sin. And we all do when first sin. God gave us the way out of it. Your story starts here too. But there is another warning here; what will happen when we accomplish immortality, which God also forbade?
